Laser Clinic #3

Prerequisites:

#1 Be a member in good standing for the 2018 season

#2 Have completed CanSail2 or higher or have passed an "Old Salt Test"

The last laser clinic of the year! Members must attend all 3 classes. Lightweight students, who's own weight is less than 145 lbs are encouraged to take the Byte training. They will practice sailing the Bytes, but learn how to rig both types of boats.

Each class will include 3 mandatory training sessions. The students must attend all 3 sessions to complete the training and be allowed to sail the club's Lasers and Bytes. The course structure is as follows:

Thursday, August 9th, 2018 from 6 pm to 9 pm (No sailing):

Rigging class on lasers

Saturday, August 11th, 2018  from 10am to 3pm

Docking, casting off (leaving the dock), basic sailing techniques, capsize recovery.

Sunday, August 12th, 2018 from 10 am to 3 pm.

Advanced techniques and intro to racing.

The class will be conducted by Leo Legoshov and Jen Ng.

As of right now only registration to sail a byte is available because all of the laser spots are reserved for those not drawn for previous clinics. You may add your name to the wait list for a laser.

In the event the course is fully booked and a draw is required. Participants will be required to give the education chair an enrollment deposit cheque of $50 (you will be emailed about this). If you attend all three sessions your cheque will be returned to you, anything else and your cheque will be considered an administrative fee charged by the club. It will be deposited into the clubs bank account with no possibility of refund. This is to prevent any spot in the course not being used. Failure to provide the cheque if required is considered forfeiting of your spot.

Spaces in the course going unused due to lack of commitment and last minute change of plans has been a problem in the past, this is why we are testing this registration procedure. If you sign up, get a spot, and show up this course is FREE!

If you have any questions please contact the Vice Commodore: Tom Udale-Clough, education@sailtoronto.com. Include your phone number so I may call you to quickly resolve any questions.
